July 4th, 2015 -  Rochester to Portsmouth Walk

Today’s Total Mileage: 21 miles (Options for 11 miles and 6 miles)
Estimated Walk Time: 9 hours (including breaks)
     ***Larry Lessig will be walking the Rochester Route***

 

Starting Point:  Rochester Commons bandstand,  S. Main St, Rochester, NH 03867
Route:  South on Route 108 to Dover Point Rd., South to Woodbury Ave. to Market Square
End Point:  Prescott Park,  105 Marcy St, Portsmouth, NH 03801
Parking Re/Max building,  124 S. Main St., Rochester, NH 03867;
      Overflow Parking at Care Pharmacy,  161 S. Main St., Rochester, NH 03867
     
*please use furthest part of lot (near Sawyer Ave., closest to the Commons) - please do not park near store front
 

  • 6:00 AM – Park at Re/Max or Care Pharmacy
  • 6:30 AM – Breakfast and Meeting (breakfast provided by Panera Dover)
  • 7:00 AM – Kick-Off at Rochester Commons
          - Guest Speaker Carol Shea-Porter!
          - Depart!
 
11:00 AM - Lunch at Dover Friends Meeting House, 141 Central Ave., Dover, NH 03820   (Park on the free on-street parking, across from the Dover Friends Meeting House on Central Ave.--DO NOT park in the grass).
       ***You can join the walk at 11 AM at this location, for an 11-mile walk.

2:00 PM  Waypoint - Old General Sullivan Pedestrian Bridge  (Park at Newick's Lobster House, in dirt lot near the street431 Dover Point Road, Dover, NH 03820). 
      ***You can join the walk at 2 PM at this location, for a 6-mile walk.

4:00 PM – Meet with Hampton Group at Four Tree Island
          – Free Barbecue

4:45 PM – Walk from Four Tree Island to Prescott Park. 

5:00 PM Evening Event:  Rally for Independence

            Free Ben & Jerry's ice cream, a reading of the Declaration of Independence by Burt Cohen and Betty Tamposi, "Angels of Our Better Nature" skit, and a special message from Doug Hughes!

5:30 PM – Closing Speaker Larry Lessig

  • 6:00 PM  Depart, Rides back to parking begin.

Meeting Point:  Moose Lodge, 1163 Sagamore Ave, Portsmouth, NH 03801
Starting Point:  Hampton Beach, 229 Ocean Boulevard
Route:  North on Route 1A
End Point:  Prescott Park, 105 Marcy St, Portsmouth, NH 03801
Parking:  Moose Lodge, 1163 Sagamore Ave, Portsmouth, NH 03801

  • 9:00 AM – PARK at Moose Lodge 1163 Sagamore Ave, Portsmouth, NH 03801. Breakfast served in Moose Lodge parking lot between 9:00 and 9:30

  • 9:30 AM – Leave Moose Lodge on buses departing for Hampton Beach

  • 10:00 AM – Drop off at 229 Ocean Boulevard, Hampton - Kick-off

  • LUNCH – On the road

    12:50 PM - Waypoint, Rye Harbor State Park, 1730 Ocean Blvd, Rye, NH, 03870. (parking is $4 for adults, $2 for children.)
    You can join the walk at 12:50 PM from this location, for an 8 mile walk.

    1:25 PM 
    - Waypoint, Wallis Sands Beach, 1050 Ocean Blvd, Rye, NH, 03870. (Parking is $15)
    You can join the walk at 1:25 PM from this location, for a 6 mile walk. 

    2:25 PM - Waypoint, Moose Lodge, 1163 Sagamore Ave, Rye, NH, 03870
    You can join the walk at 2:25 PM from this location, for a 2.5 mile walk.
